User Guide

1. Wait for pre-recording to be ready

Open the camera and allow camera and microphone access. A blinking green dot means pre-recording is active. The app continuously buffers recent video and audio. Choose the buffer duration in Settings.

2. Start recording

When the moment happens, tap record. The saved video includes footage already buffered before you tapped, then continues recording. Right after opening the camera or rebuilding the buffer, the available pre-recorded duration may be shorter than your setting.

3. Stop and save

Tap the record button again to stop. Once “Saved to Photos” appears, view the video in Photos or select it from the camera’s library button. Buffered footage is not saved as a video unless you start recording.

Still Working with a Dark Screen

The power-saving screen dims the display and hides the viewfinder while pre-recording or recording continues. Tap an empty area to wake the viewfinder. Adjust the delay under Power Saving in Settings.

Keep the app in the foreground

The power-saving screen is different from locking your phone. Pressing the power button, switching apps, or a system camera interruption stops camera capture. The pre-recording buffer rebuilds when you return.

Voice Commands

Enable voice control and allow speech recognition, then say the commands shown in Settings to start or stop recording or turn the light on or off. You can customize each command. Recognition runs on your device; wind, distance, and background noise may affect it.

Volume Buttons & Headsets

With the relevant controls enabled, volume buttons or supported headset play/pause buttons can start and stop recording. Volume-button capture requires iOS 17.2 or later and works only while the camera is in the foreground. Buttons return to normal in settings or Photos. See Buttons & Headsets for AirPods Camera Remote requirements.
